I made a sketch about a flight landing in Montreal where a bunch of old elementary school classmates end up reuniting on the plane. The whole thing spirals into this ridiculous status competition—everyone's trying to one-up each other about how successful they've become.
There's a billionaire investor, someone who married rich and does nothing but shop, a guy who keeps showing off his tattoos and street credibility, and people just generally flexing their accomplishments. The chaos really kicks off when they're trying to order dinner and everyone's got opinions about what they want, what's fancy enough for them, and who's more impressive than who.
The bit plays on that specific kind of awkwardness you get when you run into people from your past and everyone's suddenly performing their best adult self. Instead of just having a normal conversation, it becomes this endless stream of bragging and one-liners, with the restaurant server caught in the middle trying to help.
It's that strange nostalgia mixed with the pressure to seem like you've made it in life—except everyone's version of "making it" is completely absurd and contradictory. I wanted to capture how sometimes these random reunions bring out the worst in people, or at least the most ridiculous versions of themselves.
