The DJI Pocket 4 had a dealbreaker audio issue with the DJI Mic 3. With the new firmware update, is it now fixed?
If you're like me, you recently bought the DJI Pocket 4, but then realized there's a huge issue, which is that this DJI Mic 3 keeps cutting out. DJ has a new firmware, so I want to know if this is finally fixed or not on this camera. My software engineer brain has been put to the test with this one because I keep trying to figure out, is it when I'm using the DJ Mic 2 that causes issues? Is it when I have my earbuds on? Is there a certain situation that's causing this? And I couldn't find anything specific that is causing the issue. It also perfectly works well sometimes and then fails another times. I'm going to do a mini vlog [music] to fully test it out. [music] I definitely have to take it more relaxed today because the sun is out and [music] it's pretty warm. And also, I don't have water with me. So, I need to make sure that I'm not going to get dehydrated during this 1 hourish run. Might be a bit longer today. It's really crazy how simply having sun makes running so much harder. I usually wouldn't have a heart rate this high at this spot, but it's good. It's a really good training. Pretty sad. We used to have a beautiful clear view [music] of the lake here, but now it's been covered up and we basically cannot see anything anymore since this new huge cottage got constructed. I just checked the audio and so far so good. So hopefully this will continue working perfectly. But now, time for me to continue running after taking a little break to get [music] my heart rate back down. I didn't plan this too well. It's the moment where all the construction truck are leaving, but that's just a little thing we have to deal with around the lake right now. It's beginning of summer, so everybody's trying to get [music] their construction done as quickly as possible before winter comes back in a few months. [music] Last night when I was running right through here, I got a beautiful shot of the sunset. Sadly, again, there's so many trees that grew in last year. We used to have a nice view at the end here, but now it's kind of hard to get a good shot of the sunsets from here. The run is done right under an hour. It was a little bit faster than expected. I'm very curious to go [music] and see if the audio is correct or if there's any issues. But first, I really want to jump into the water. It's my first time jumping there this year and hopefully it's going to refresh me because I'm soaking [music] from sweat right now. I have some very good news. I just went through the whole footage right now and I have zero audio issue with the DJI Mic connected [music] to the J Pocket 4. This is a big relief because one of the reasons I really like the Jet products is that usually they're very reliable. So, this seems to be fixed now. I [music] never had a day before where I had zero audio issues.
The DJI Pocket 4 had a serious problem that almost felt like a dealbreaker: the DJI Mic 3 kept cutting out during recording. It was frustrating because I couldn't pinpoint what was causing it. Was it a conflict with the DJI Mic 2? Something about having earbuds on? A specific scenario? I tested everything I could think of, but the issue seemed random—working perfectly one moment, then failing the next. My software engineer brain was working overtime trying to solve this puzzle.
DJI released a new firmware update, so I decided to put it to the real test. I took the Pocket 4 with me on a run around the lake to capture real-world footage and see if the audio issue was finally resolved. It's the kind of test that matters: not in controlled conditions, but out in the field where you actually use the gear.
The run itself turned into a mini vlog—it's a beautiful area despite some changes over the year. The views have been affected by new construction and overgrown trees, but it's still a solid training route. During the whole session, I was monitoring the audio to see if the mic would cut out as it had before.
Here's the good news: I went through the entire footage afterward and found zero audio issues with the DJI Mic connected to the Pocket 4. Not a single dropout. This is genuinely a big relief because one of the reasons I've always liked DJI products is their reliability, and this firmware fix seems to have delivered. This was the first day I've had where I experienced zero audio issues with this setup. It looks like the problem is finally solved.
