My first (free) presets for Lightroom! Inspired by Chamonix & Lyon

I recently came back from an amazing trip ski trip in Chamonix and Lyon in France. While editing my photos, I created 3 presets that I used on all the photos I edited for this trip. I decided to make these Lightroom presets available for free!

I will soon share three videos about how I created these presets, how I used them to edit the photos and how I got to the final results. In this post, I want to share the goal I had for each preset and share some before/after photos so you can get a better idea of how these presets will look.

Lyon – Soft and vibrant

My first preset, named Lyon – Soft and vibrant, was created to make the colors of the building of the city of Lyon look less harsh by lifting the shadow and pushing the dynamic range. I then added contrast and punch to the images by making the colors vibrant but still very natural looking. Here are a few before/after:

Chamonix Mountains

My second preset is a very simple one. The goal here was to color correct the blue tones from my Sony camera that are usually a little bit too purple and move them towards teal. I wanted to preserve the natural beauty of the landscape so I kept most setting as simple as possible.

Chamonix at night

My last preset, and not the least, is my first astrophotography preset. This one also has a twist. I could get photos of the stars without the city in front so it’s also a great preset for Chamonix at night.
